A Historic Review of the Susitna RIver Hydro Project

Jim Thrall
Meridian Management, Inc.
Anchorage, Alaska

I'm happy to announce the first of the fall/winter AWRA Alaska Chapter, Southcentral brown bag seminars will be presented by Jim Thrall on Wednesday October 15, and will provide a historic review of the Susitna River Hydro Project.

Recent news stories indicate that Representative Don Young is seeking to revive interest in the Susitna River Hydro Project, which was active during the 1970s and 80s (http://www.adn.com/alaska/story/3515072p-3546154c.html). Many hydrologists in Alaska cut their teeth on either the pipeline or the Susitna Hydro Project. For those of us who came along later, Jim will give a review of what was done, some of the environmental considerations, and, perhaps, what still remains to be completed.

Most of the rest of the winter sessions remain to be filled.
