Updating Alaska's FEMA flood insurance maps

Christy Miller
Floodplain Management Program State Coordinator

A plan is under development to update Alaska's out dated flood maps for all Alaska communities that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program and how these maps may support multi-hazard information. Under partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the State Department of Community and Economic Development, (DCED) Division of Community Advocacy is preparing this plan and will provide a briefing on the goals and objectives. Input will be asked for from the user community.

Linked to the modernization of the flood maps is a task to develop a 5-Year Floodplain Management Strategic Plan for Alaska.
